Here, are some popular choices that have been popular with other families:

1.  Theme park- There are plenty of different theme parks available.  These can be like Six Flags, water parks, or even some time of amusement park.  These can be great entertainment that caters to families depending on the time you choose to go.  In addition, many of these venues offer discounts on prices, parking, etc.

2.  Museum or aquarium- There are plenty of museums, exhibits and aquariums around the country that can make for a fun time with the family.  I have mentioned these before in other posts, but it is a good idea to find out about what is available in your area as you can often find some truly great exhibits, shows, and options if you are willing to do a little research.

3.  Theme restaurant-  Many places offer dinner and a show.  Two popular choices are the Magic Time Machine and Benihana’s restaurant.  The first has themed wait staff who act as characters from a certain time period.  This can be great entertainment for the family.  The latter is a Japanese restaurant where they cook and prepare the food in front of you.  Either way, both can be great experiences and are family friendly.

4.  Entertainment centers- These are venues that cater towards family fun with an emphasis on children’s entertainment.  They can include game arcades, go-carts, laser tag, bumper boats, putt putt, etc.  Each one offers a way for kids to really have a blast along with their parents.

5.  Ballgame- Many sports teams cater to families during certain times.  These can provide a great time for the family to enjoy their favorite sports team and share some time together.

6.  Rafting or tubing- This can also be a great experience for family and friends.  Tubing is usually the more laid back of the two and may be the better option for families that have younger children.  Rafting on the other hand can be a lot of fun too.  Check out what rivers and popular spots offer these services in your state.

7.  Boating- Whether you choose using a motor boat or small boat sailing, both experiences can be very enjoyable.  Motor boating can allow your family to try out sports like water skiing or even carrying someone on an inner tube.  On the other hand, small boat sailing can be a great way for a family to bond together as they learn how to sail.

8.  Scavenger Hunt-  This can be a great low cost idea.  Join together with a few other families to set up a scavenger hunt in your area.  Make it so it has the families travel around the area looking for clues and provide fun prizes at the end.  This can also be a great way to bring families together besides just a standard party or barbecue.

9.  Hot air balloon ride- This can provide a unique family experience that will create a lasting memory.  Many different areas offer balloon rides and of course, you will have a great view while aboard.  Unlike other options of flying, this one truly lets people enjoy the view with a slower flying time.

10. Go on tour of a donut shop- Many donut shops will actually give tours to groups and allow them to get a doggie bag of donut goodies at the end.  Kids will love this activity as they get to see how the donuts are made and enjoy some of the fruits of the labor.
